PPW Motorcars is pleased to offer one of the finest, highest and best specification Mercedes-Benz E60 RS Renntech vehicles ever to be built. This stunning 1997 e60 RS was magnificently ordered in the best color combination possible, jet black metallic over black leather, alcantara, and piano black wood. With all others we have seen being an undesirable color such as red, green, or silver, this may be the only triple black car in existence! These magnificent motorcars are so rare that few photos of them are even online due to the incredibly low production due to astronomical cost.

The E60 RS started its life as a top of the line E420, which carried an MSRP of $49,900 plus optional equipment (over $80,000 adjusted for inflation). For the select few, who the best was not enough, they commissioned Renntech to build a car so extreme, whose power is still relevant today, to build the ultimate car of the time. When produced, this heavy sedan did 0-60 faster than a Ferrari 355 or Acura NSX. The cost of the build was around $100,000, with all customers having different costs due to their individual specification. Most were around the $75,000 mark with some, such a Jerry Seinfeld’s that is nearly identical to this specification and was $115,000 in addition to the price of the car! This vehicle was the world’s fastest sedan by a country mile and the raw power of it is still quicker than many modern sportscars! The behemoth 6.0L V8 produced a staggering 434HP and 525lb-ft; in a sedan from 1997 when the highest horsepower sedan performed 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, the E60 RS did it a FULL 2 SECONDS QUICKER at 4.6 seconds. These power figures are nothing short of mind blowing! It combined the road holding ability of a sports car with the opulent appointments of the finest luxury cars. This was a vehicle for the most discerning individual to whom sacrificing any virtue of the vehicle for the sake of another was unacceptable and represents a level of coachbuilding that is largely extinct today.

Another fun fact is that this does 0-60 as quick as a new E53 AMG, which has all wheel drive, a 9 speed transmission, and every other piece of modern technology. What really stands out as the top speed that crushes the E53.

The E60 RS has a top speed IN EXCESS OF 200 MPH!

The heart of the E60 RS is the engine, which started its life as a E420 and was completely re-engineered by Renntech to sport a 6.0L V8 with a different crank, rods, pistons, full valve train, and virtually every other component. This was not just a simple bored and stroked engine. To make the engine breathe properly they created headers, resonator, and a muffler out of full stainless steel and tuned it so that when you lay your foot into it, the sound is more beautiful than most supercars. To handle the power, they reworked the transmission, driveshaft, and limited slip differential. Then came the ability to stay planted and stable at every potential situation whether it be 0-60 or 200mph. They redesigned the entire suspension from the adjustable shocks, springs, sway bars, control arms, and more so that this vehicle is able to deliver the power at optimal levels at all times. Then came the question of how to stop it from 200MPH. Renntech again went with the best, an massive 8 Piston Brembo Brake Kit with rotors that are the size of a medium pizza and nearly ¾ as thick as the short side of a credit card. However, the puny wheels equipped on the e420 (which were smaller than the diameter of the rotors had to be changed so Renntech engineered a magnesium wheel to fit these behemoth brakes and they are large due to the wide width of the tires required to put down the power. The issue then became how to fit such a wide wheel and the only answer was the same as all others in relation to this car, custom and at an astronomical cost. Renntech fitted one of the most extreme widebody kits we have ever seen and to make it even more impressive, it looks so good both in fit and finish but also siting the car that a passerby would think it was OEM. The kit is obviously wide in the front but the rear is just magnificent! The rear is so wide that not only were the fenders widened but so much so that they had to extend the doorjambs, and even the doors themselves. Yes, the wheels are so large that Renntech widened the doors to make them fit! What resulted was the most extreme, well engineered, and fastest sedan the word had seen. To most that would seem like enough, but for the select few to whom excess was never enough, they had Renntech fully retrim the interior. Everything from the carpet to the headliner was replaced and the gentleman who ordered this car did it right. He opted for full leather with alcantara inserts and some of the best finished Piano Black wood whose finish would rival a Bentley Continental. There was absolutely nothing left untouched on this car. This is it. This is the best. Nothing like it has existed before. Nothing like it has existed after. If you are a Mercedes collector chasing a 500e/e500, a 6.3, SL60, SL70, or any other vehicle, stop. This is it, period. Offered for the true collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this extremely rare, low mile, top of the line, serviced, and powerful E60 RS. Bid with confidence-you will not be disappointed in this truly magnificent motorcar!

    Grüsse Rolf
